An association of specialist dental accountants, NASDA was formed in 1998 by six accountants who were regularly sharing ideas and information. They decided that they wanted to form an organisation which would constantly work towards improving the standard of advice provided to dentists. There are now 37 members who between them have some 5,000 dentist clients, representing one fifth of the dental profession. The combined knowledge and understanding of the finances of the UK’s dentists in practice is unparalleled. Every year all members pool information about their clients’ accounts. This is done anonymously without names or any identifying factors, so that NASDA members can build an average profile. These figures also form benchmarking statistics to help NASDA members provide the best possible advice to their clients. Recently we have started gathering quarterly goodwill data for practices that have been sold or acquired by members clients across the whole of the UK, again anonymously to maintain confidentially.
